The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that manufactured products meet quality standards required to achieve internal and customer product expectations while adhering to procedures, controls, and processes. Lead problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective actions as well as serve as a quality point of contact with customers. Additionally, this role has quality systems management responsibilities. This role may have direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
General & Task Management
- Build strong, working relationships with major customer stakeholders and in-house development teams to ensure complete and transparent communication and support
- Coordinate activities to evaluate and resolve technically challenging engineering and quality-related problems
- Assist with new product introduction; support and manage pre-production trial runs and first off sample approvals
- Promote the use of standard techniques for continuous improvement such as Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke and MSA,
- Promote quality awareness through training and other techniques.
- Investigate reports of non-conforming parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine nature and scope of issues that affect our customers.
- Determine and collect relevant data for product and process improvements to track line performance and appropriately escalate issues.
Relationship Management
- Provide advice and guidance to management teams as required
- Provide technical support to all internal departments to maintain and improve product quality.
- Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, and other interested parties.
- Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.
- Develop technical relationships with the customer and business partners.

Skills and Attributes
- Strong knowledge of AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP & Control Plan, FMEA, SPC/ MSA
- Problem Solving 8D, A3; Root Cause 5 Why/Ishikawa/Brainstorming/IS-IS NOT
- Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO 9001:2015)
- Exercise substantial initiative/judgement in work methods and interpretating goals
- Work independently, self-supervising with minimal supervision
- Good understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality
Basic Qualifications and Experience Levels
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex technical thoughts to a non-technical audience
- Demonstrated logical reasoning and problem-solving skills/root cause analysis
- High level of organization and multi-tasking ability
- Experience leading a professional team and serving as a high-performing team member
- Ability to travel for short durations
Preferred Requirements
- Three to Five Years in Project Quality Experience/Quality Assurance desired.
- Experience in manufacturing operations and in a customer-facing role
- ASQ-Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor
- Supervisory experience
- Six Sigma Greenbelt
