THE POSITION:
As a technician in the Design Engineering team at Soaris, you will own the laboratory space & support engineers with the design, development, validation, and maintenance of products. These products include fuel pump modules, solenoid oil pumps, fuel rails, and electronic control units.
Overall responsibility for design lab which includes:
- Ensure & support calibration compliance & licenses for engineering tools.
- Budget for and procure supplies for both general usage and specific to projects
- Maintain inventory of raw materials, development samples, and equipment in Design Engineering domain.
- Define and install improvements focused on efficiency & availability of the labs and tools.
On any given day, you will need to:
- Run tests on prototypes & validation samples following a procedure or test plan, while collecting results for review.
- Assemble custom circuits, hand-built daughter boards, prototype samples, harnesses, & test systems as needed by engineers for specific projects. Working from basic sketches, you’ll ask questions about unclear details, make proposals where options are available, and document the final implementation. Soldering skills will be tested.
- Show strong understanding when reading electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings, tracing data into supporting systems where necessary.
- Troubleshoot electronic circuits & mechanical assemblies.
- Prepare equipment & run pre-tests to ensure readiness for validation testing, resolving issues identified.
- Drive RFQs and detail clarification when coordinating external services such as validation test laboratories.
- Work with Design, New Product Launch, and Manufacturing Process engineers to support prototype builds in the manufacturing environment.
- Review & compare BOM among products and versions.
- Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting and quality improvement activities of designed products.
- Participate directly in solving / corrective action activities.
- Drive own professional development by identifying and set up training for skills and/or tools, supported by department manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree (A.A.) in electronics, electro-mechanics, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or closely related field
- 8+ years of experience
- IPC610 certified.
- Proficiency using standard electronic bench test equipment, specifically Digital Oscilloscopes (DSO), DC power supplies, Digital Voltmeters (DVM), AC signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, and Inductance/Capacitance meters (LCR).
- Skilled in creating & reading electrical & mechanical technical drawings.
- Comfortable in the use of mechanical tools.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Technical training from the US Armed Forces.
- Automotive product development experience.
- Experience with parts and assemblies utilizing plastics, sheet metal, castings, tubing (metal, rubber, plastic), braising, o-rings, etc
- Fuel & fluid handling experience
- Schematic capture experience
- Labview experience
- JTAG flashing experience
- Problem-solving skills & techniques: 5 why, 8D, Ishikawa diagram
- An ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities
